What is the treatment?

There are a number of skin care treatments available today, which help individuals rejuvenate their skin to a great extent. Skin problems and aging have become quite common because of the hectic lifestyles we lead, genes and other environmental conditions. A number of different types of treatments are now available which help solve problems like wrinkles, acnes, fine lines and other skin diseases.

Quite a few skin treatments are also available to manage chronic skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and rosacea. Although chronic skin problems are not quite curable, their signs and symptoms can be effectively dealt with through various skin treatments.

Generally, the kind of skin treatment that one opts for depends on their skin type; be it normal, dry, combination or oily.

How is the treatment done?

Every type of skin care treatment is unique and has different benefits. It is important that one knows what exactly the skin care treatment entails before undergoing it. Here is how some of the skin care treatments are performed-

Acne Blue Light Therapy- The therapy makes use of a blue light band to kill bacteria which cause acne. The treatment is very quick and takes about half an hour. No pain is felt when one is exposed to the blue light.

Chemical peel- This type of treatment uses an acid solution to deal with the outer skin layers. A solution of alpha hydroxylacid, phenol or trichloroacetic acid is used. It is known to be one of the oldest forms of skin care procedures.

IPL photo-facial- The treatment generally takes about half an hour, during which pulsed light is directed towards the skin. It does not cause any discomfort or pain.

Laser skin resurfacing- This procedure involves the use of a laser which breaks the molecular bond of the damaged skin cells and makes skin smooth. It is also commonly known as a laser peel.

Laser skin tightening- This procedure also makes use of a laser to tighten the skin. The light of the laser heats the skin, thus stimulating the production of collagen.

Microdermabrasion- During this procedure, an instrument is used to spray minute crystals on the skin surface. These crystals exfoliate the skin effectively.

Thermage- A non-exfoliating skin treatment, it uses heat to tighten the skin.
