Skin Boosters are micro-injections of dermal fillers in the skin. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, they are not injected beneath the skin to volumize or shape the face. Instead, they are very fine dermal fillers that are injected into the skin to hydrate and improve skin quality. This type of dermal filler can be injected over large treatment areas of the face, neck, and hands to increase the skin’s hydration quality. During the treatment, the multiple injections activate the fibroblasts promoting new collagen and elastin formation . The result is healthy-looking, glowing and plump skin.
Benefits of the skin booster treatment:
This treatment is suitable for all patients who are not pregnant or breastfeeding. It is recommended for patients who want to improve the overall quality and the degree of hydration of their skin.
The skin booster treatment is not intended to fill lines and wrinkles. Instead, it is to hydrate the skin and promote formation of new collagen and elastin in the long term. Patients notice a more dewy and firmer appearance to the skin and more of a ‘glow’ as a result.
The skin booster treatment works exceptionally well at enhancing the results of other treatments and can be added to most services at VCI. We recommend adding a skin booster session to:
Skin Boosters are applied with a mesotherapy gun. These are machines that utilize a 9 point needle system to deliver a specific amount of dermal filler to a specific depth. It uses suction to bring the skin to the needles to provide even distribution of the dermal filler up to 1mm into the skin. For a full face treatment, we divide the face into 3 sections, upper, mid and lower, with each receiving 1 ml of dermal filler via 33 injection sites to each third.
Prior to your procedure, we apply a topical numbing agent which makes the treatment a comfortable experience. It is also possible to perform the treatment without numbing cream, as the suction helps to also alleviate any discomfort.
Please note that the actual names of the fillers used cannot be mentioned here due to TGA restrictions.
The dermal fillers that are used in skin booster treatments are non-cross-linked fillers. Cross-links are bonds between the chains of molecules that form the dermal filler. Dermal fillers without cross-linking are very fluid and less viscous and may be suited to skin injections. Unlike cross-linked fillers, they produce no lift. Therefore, they also produce no lumping in the final result (although there may be some temporary small lumps visible initially after the treatment). The fillers are injected into the papillary dermis where fibroblasts are housed. Fibroblast stimulation by injection of the filler causes new collagen and elastin formation in the skin. The depth of injection can be modulated by the injecting gun used.
The fillers that are used are also formulated with 14 types of anti-oxidants and vitamins within the filler to nourish the skin.
